Organic Futon Mattresses by Gold Bond |
Just like organic food is important, organic sleep should hold the same value. Over the years, mattress manufactures have been putting synthetic ingredients such as polyester, foams and steel into your mattress. By law, mattress manufacture's are required to use fire retardant chemicals on the surface ticking of your mattress for fire safety reasons. Many people who have sensitive allergies, asthma or other upper respiratory issues can benefit from an organic futon mattress. You don't even have to have any of these physical ailments to buy an organic futon mattress. For those who prefer a simple traditional natural sleep, an organic futon mattress is a perfect choice. When it comes to sleep, organic means simplicity.
Gold Bond, one of America's leading futon manufacture's has introduced a new line of high quality organic futon mattresses. These futons are similar to the Japanese style shiki, which can be used on the floor, tatami mat or platform bed or futon frame. The simple ingredients are cotton, wool and the option of a 2" or 3" latex core. Choose from 5", 7", 8" and 10" thicknesses available in twin, full, queen, king and other special sizes.

When it comes to organic futon mattresses and you are looking for all natural ingredients, do not fall for "soy based foam". Soy based foam may sound all nice and healthy, but this type of foam does not provide the same quality of density as regular petroleum based foam. The next best thing and alternative to foam is latex. If you have the money to invest in an organic mattress, you will find that latex will provide the most ultimate comfort level. It will give shape to your mattress as well as provide a slight bounce or "give" when you plop yourself on it. Although the word "latex" has some sort of synthetic connotation, this type of latex is natural and comes from the rubber tree. If latex was as inexpensive as foam, I would always recommend going with latex. Keep in mind that the latex is sandwiched in between wool and cotton batting so the surface ticking will not feel "latexy" or "rubbery". Not only does the latex provide better comfort, but it will also help keep the cotton batting and wool contents in place better which makes your mattress surface more even.
